Turku BioImaging Image Data Team in collaboration with the Centre for Cellular Imaging at the University of Gothenburg are organising an introduction to image analysis course Sep 19-23, 10-18 each day (late start because of time difference). This course will be organised in a hybrid format – those selected for the course will participate from the Turku campus and be supported by Turku BioImaging staff while the teachers are in Gothenburg/elsewhere. Some parts of the course will be run from Turku only.

We limit the number of participants to 10 and give priority to researchers who are currently in need of image analysis in their research. You will be working on your own laptop.

Course description:

The focus of the course is to reach a broad view of computerised image analysis in Life Science and gain a basic understanding of the theory and algorithms behind the image analysis methods and tools. Course activities include hands-on exercises that encompass a wide variety of tools and the concepts needed for building suitable image analysis workflows.

This course provides:

We will address the issues of image ethics and proper image acquisition for image analysis. The course will also offer an introduction to several freely available software tools (Image/Fiji, ilastik), and commercial software (MatLab, Imaris), preparing the students to start using image analysis in their own research.
